How long will it take to process my application?

We endeavour to contact all applications within 2 hours of enquiry (during office opening hours) . Once the compliance documentation has been gathered new applications will immediately begin to receive text and email alerts to all relevant Locum requirements.

What documentation do you need from me?

Please refer to the registration section register/

I was registered with PE Global Locum Express previously, do I need to send in original documentation again?

No. Most documents will still be valid. We will run a compliance check and let you know which documents may need updating.

What should I do if I am interested in a job?

Please call us on 021 4297901 and we can submit your details for the position you are interested in. If you have received a text alert you can simply reply to the text stating your availability and we will submit your details.

How will I know if I am booked for a locum position?

All bookings are confirmed by both an initial phone call and then a confirmation email will be sent outlining the role, the location , the dates and the times.

Can I be put forward for more than one job for the same date?

Yes, however we request that you commit to whichever job comes back to you first and not wait on a potentially "better" role.

What happens if I have to cancel a booking?

Although we understand that some circumstances outside of your control may dictate cancellations at any time we request that you give us notice of any cancellation in a timely manner with a full valid reason. Just changing your mind will not be acceptable at the time and we ask you for your 100% commitment with each booking.

How soon can I be expected to be paid once I have done a job?

Locum Express run a weekly payroll service. Timesheets must be submitted by 12pm on Monday for the previous week. If the timesheet is completed correctly and it has the correct information payment will be made on Thursday of that week. Depending on your Bank it may take 3 working days to reach your bank account.

I have not worked in Ireland before. What must I do to register?

Any doctor who would like to practice medicine in Ireland is required by law to be registered with the Irish Medical Council (IMC).

If you are an EU-qualified doctor, it could take 6 - 10 weeks from the time of submitting the application to obtain the registration with the Irish Medical Council. In case of non-EU qualified doctors, it is wise to plan some months ahead as the registration can take 6 - 9 months, and if you are required to sit PRES exams, it will go beyond that. The Irish Medical Council encourages doctors to ensure only complete applications are submitted as any errors and / or missing paperwork can significantly delay the procedures.

You can find out all the required information on the IMC website:

The website includes information on the application process, Guide to Registration, PRES exams Handbook, fees and more.

If the information provided on the website does not clarify your situation and you would like to discuss your personal circumstances with the IMC, you can contact the Registration Office by ringing 00353 1 498 3100 or e-mailing The phone lines are open Monday to Friday between 10 am and 12.30 pm and then 2 pm to 4 pm.
