This is a new post and an ideal oppurtunity for a suitably qualified individual looking to develop skills within an Acute General Internal Medicine department with a special interest in Respiratory medicine. The position will allow the canditate to meet their training and education objectives within thier clinical responsibilities.
We have an exciting Registrar level opportunity for candidates who wish to obtain training and broaden their experience in Acute Medicine in a central London teaching hospital.
You will participate in a weekly rolling rota which will give you experience of our various Acute Assessment Unit (AAU) activities which include acute take, Ambulatory Emergency Care, and Enhanced Care. We also offer a generous amount of time to develop a special skill or interest, and all of our trainees are encouraged to participate in departmental and Trust initiatives as well as Quality Improvement projects.
To provide clinical leadership, diagnosis, management and treatment for patients with specialist frailty and end of life care needs; act as an expert resource for medical, nursing and other health care professionals across the Trust footprint; and be an active champion of high quality frailty and older persons care both locally and across the region.
The post offers excellent experience in all aspects of acute General and Care of the Elderly Medicine. Doctors in all disciplines who are considering a career in Care of the Elderly / Frailty are encouraged to apply.
The post holder will complement existing services through the provision of specialist knowledge & expertise in Geriatrics. The post holder is therefore required to have full registration with the General Medical Council & a valid licence to practice and will have completed at least four years' full-time postgraduate training (or its equivalent gained on a part-time or flexible basis) at least two of which will be in a specialty training programme in a relevant specialty or as a fixed term specialty trainee in a relevant specialty; or shall have equivalent experience and competencies.
The post-holder will be encouraged to advance their career in Geriatrics and/or a medical specialty, and will be supported in obtaining postgraduate qualifications. The Division also has experience of supporting doctors in CESR (previously Article 14) applications, and again this would be encouraged for suitably experienced doctors.
